A sight inside

Topic: Who am I?

I’m 19 years old and live here in Warner Robins. I live with my mother and I love her very much. I have an older brother that lives with my dad in Alabama. After my parents got a divorce my mom and I moved back here to Warner Robins. My dad was in the air force and Alabama was where he was originally from. I was born on the base and have lived here most of my life. I also have an older sister and she is currently in college as well. She is a bit further down the road than in college than I am. She will be graduating from her nursing school next month. I am very proud of her and hope to follow in her footsteps in persewing a degree of my own.
I am currently taking English, math, Spanish, and American government. I am passing all my classes right now and hope to continue doing so. My plan over the summer is to take sociobiology for my maymester class. My major is radiology, and if I work hard at it I can finish my major in less than three years.
I am a proud owner of a boxer bulldog. My boxers name is miss Jackson. She is always full of energy and ready to play. She is almost a year old and ready to breed. I can’t wait until she has puppies. That used to be one of my hobbies was breeding dogs and I would love to get back into it.
I am a person who likes to travel a lot. I have traveled to almost every state in the United States, except for most of the northern states. My favorite place to travel to is California. California is a great spot to go on vacation. They have everything form skiing to rock climbing. I lived there for almost a year and can’t wait until I can go back again.
I am always listening to music. I am a person who likes to listen to music a lot. I listen to a little of everything. I enjoy rap an r-n-b the most. My favorite artist is Young Jeezy. He has been my favorite rapper for at least two years. When he recorded his hit single soul survivor was when I really started listening to him.
I am really good at just about any sport I play. I am really good at basketball, but football is my favorite sport. I played football in high school and miss playing there very much. Everybody always told me that I would miss high school after graduating and they were right. I love to get together with my friends on the weekend and play whatever sport that it is that we feel like playing. I’m very athletic so I can win at whatever sport we play. I try to go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week so when I am out there playing I like to think that it gives me an advantage.
Right now I own of a pontific grand prix. I like the car I have now and its gets me from point a to point b, but I hope to buy another car in the near future. I’m looking at a Honda Civic 2002. I don’t have all the money together I need right now, but I hope to change that in the near future. After I get through with all my homework I like to go out and enjoy the nightlife, that’s why I want a new car. I like to study hard and then party hard. I don’t get out much threw the week, but when it comes to the weekend it’s a different story. I have a lot of friends that like to go to clubs or bars and have a good time. I met a lot of people when I go out and just recently met a real special one. We met two week ago and things couldn’t be better.
I really enjoyed this last semester here at Macon State. I’m glad I choose this school over the others, because I can see now that I will get a real education here. Many other students have told me that this is a hard school compared to others and I know believe them.

taking one's life

Topic: guilty as charged, but

Mercy killing –euthanasia- has long been a subject of great controversy. There is no better example than the one at hand. It certainly seems harsh in this particular case since its obvious Gilbert loved his wife very much and just couldn’t stand to see her continue to suffer in his presence. Roswell Gilbert had a difficult decision to make. His wife had Alzheimer’s disease and was in terrible pain. She begged and pleaded with him to end her life and put an ending to the pain she was dealing with. He succumbed to her wishes and laid her to rest permanently.
He was later brought up on charges and went to jail for murder in the first degree. The court didn’t have any sympathy for the old man acting out of his good will to do what he thought was right. The court doesn’t look at these things to them murder is murder no matter how you plead your case. I can’t blame him for making the decision he did. I would have made the same choice if I was in Mr. Gilbert’s shoes. He was only doing what he believed was the best for his wife.
There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to euthanasia. Someone who is against euthanasia could argue that a person who practiced would be playing god. Those who wish to defend euthanasia could argue back that euthanasia stops a persons suffering. I believe the patient and/or their family should be the only ones to decide if euthanasia is the right way to go. The government, church and everyone else should keep their opinions to themselves. Unlike abortion where someone is deciding for the unborn child, I believe in euthanasia or assisted suicide, as long as the person without question agrees, should be a personal choice.
The case involving Mr. Gilbert will become a keystone of future legislation on euthanasia. The supreme courts need to set guidelines for cases involving euthanasia. The debate over physician-assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia will soon reach its most important stage in this country. The intensity of the debate on both issues will grow during the wait for rulings this year by the superme court.

empire

Topic: Mailer 2

President Bush, “We’ll do everything we can to remind people that we’ve never been a nation of conquers; we’re a nation of liberators.” If we are not a nation of conquers and don’t plan to take over the world what gives us the right to use the same force, but call it something different. While America remains a republic within its own borders, it has become an empire in relationship to the rest of the world. What began as a motley band of colonies 225 years ago is now not only the strongest nation in the world but the strongest nation in the history of the world.

What both Americans and the world must internalize is that no one is even remotely capable of leading this effort but the United States. The only problem with accepting this fact is that most people think that we are on the wrong path doing so. Iraq might be looked at as a steeping stone to controlling the rest of the world, but it just doesn’t make sense to me. If the war in Iraq does go our way and we win. what are we really winning? Oil would be the first thing that most people would argue, but it makes absolutely no sense to say that. The government has spent over a 100 billion on this war already. Take those numbers and compare them to how much money we have spent on eliminating American vulnerability to foreign oil. I could almost guarantee that if all the money spent in Iraq went towards funding altertantive fuel sources in the next five years we would be able to wing ourselves from foreign oil.

If we continue down the path that we have taken over the last five years, we will continue to create enemies and further isolate ourselves from the world community, manufacturing hate and suspicion across the globe. We are engaged now engaged in building a global movement for peace and justice in a new kind of world, and we need a new global strategy. America is becoming an empire, and theirs no turning back.

who poeses the greatest threat?

Topic:mailer
The European edition of time magazine conducted a poll on its website and asked what country poses the greatest danger to world peace. The responses were: North Korea with 7 percent, Iraq with 8, and the United States with 84%. So why are we so hated and why do people say that the United States intends to seek world domination. Corporate Capitalism is a big part in seeing the whole picture. If I saw nothing but businesses from other countries here and knowing that their profiting from them being here, it would anger me a little to, but not as far as to say that they are seeking global domination. Corporate capitalism and establishing yourself around the world is the key for global domination, so I think that is one of the main reasons we are hated so much.

Mailer said that everywhere he looked somebody was waving a flag. The country plunged into a fever of patriotism and didn’t understand what they were supporting. A good example he put forth and compared was patriosm to professional athletes. He said that he can cheer athletes who score winning touchdowns when he doesn’t even know the first thing about them. The government used the flag and the American public was supporting it. They loved words like evil. Bush used the word as if it were a button he could push to increase his power. Bush used the word evil as a narcotic for that part of the American public which feels most distressed. Mailer defines evil as the idea of irreparable damage you’re going to do and then proceed to do it after you already know it is wrong.

I just don’t understand how our attention got flipped from one war to the other. The connections between Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden were minimal. So why did we push so hard to change from one direction to the other. The first reaction to September 11 was to destroy Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. After Afghanistan was not going our way the attention was pulled toward Iraq and things that were more important to the United States, like oil. We went into Iraq accusing them of having weapons of mass destruction. I just can not support or believe that was the reason for going to war. If that is the case, then why are we not at war with lets say half a dozen other countries that have these weapons, and openly admit it. Mailer said that George Bush has a quest for world domination. There is no evidence that supports that, but there is no evidence that proves otherwise. I have to say that I agree with him to a certain extent. When the war started I was not for or against the war, because at the time I could have cared less. After I watched a movie called fahrenheight 9/11 I have to believe there is more to it than what the government is telling the American public.

desire

Topic: Alligator river story
The situation Abigal and Gregory are in is a common one. There are always times when two people in love can’t always be together. The time apart is what makes relationships grow stronger. In this case it is a little different. They have never been together and dying to get into one another arms.
The problem with being able to see each other is that there is a river with countless alligators between the two of them. The bridge had been washed away and it would be several weeks before it could be replaced. Abigal was determined to get across the bridge and would be willing to do almost anything to get across it. She had no way of getting to the next bridge and crossing that way because she couldn’t get back in time for work the next day. She took matters into her own hands and asked sinbad, a riverboat captin to take her across. The only way he would agree to doing so, if she had sexual intercourse with him.
Abigal at first turned him down, and only when she realized there was no other way of gitting across she agreed to the circumstances. On the way over I wonder what was going through her mind and how was she going to tell Gregory how about agreeing to doing what she had to do. When she told Gregory the scrafices she made to get over there he had every intention of getting mad in any way he pleased. If the girl I loved agreed to doing that I would tell her that she would have been better off just staying on the other side of the river. That was the whole purpose of her going over there was to be with him, and in my opinion she ruined anything that they might have had. At least from my point of view it did. Sinbad had no right to do what he did to Gregory or Abigal. If that had been me I might of tought sinbad a lesson or two about taking advantage of people
Alligators I give the number one rating to because they were the only characters that did what they were supposed to do
Gregory I put second on my list because he got mad just like I would have
Sinbad should be more towards the end of my list and the reason why is he took advantage of Abigal.
Abigal I put next to last because she did the most stupidest thing by agreeing to sinbads offer.
I put slug last because I dont know where he even came from and why did he beat gregory up.

society today

topic:Human rights vs majority rule
Individuals should be viewed as equal and should have all the same rights. Minority groups are nothing more than a conglomeration on individuals. Groups cannot exist without individuals and it is the individuals that make up groups that should be given preference if and when the two ideas clash. When one person interferes with the rights of another that person is in the wrong and should be stopped. When someone is a member of a majority or a minority they are still an individual with the same rights as any other person. Thus, the equality of rights between individuals transcends and takes precedence over the rights of a social group.

No matter where you live in the United States, you can get involved in a battle for human rights protection, the birthright of every American- gay and strait. As an employee, you have many rights, including the right not to be discriminated against or harassed. How does this apply in classrooms dealing with children? How would you feel about having your kids taught by a homosexual teacher? If there is a debate between human rights vs. majority rule homosexual teachers is the perfect issue. Are children safe in the presence of homosexual teachers, or are they in danger of sexual abuse that may, in fact, lead them into the homosexual lifestyle? The momentous changes in American attitudes towards sexual orientation are giving homosexuals unprecented access to the nation’s children. Where do you think child molesters would hang out? They don’t just hang around playgrounds. Wouldn’t it make a lot more since to apply for a job that deals with children? Should homosexuals see society’s disapproval of adult-child sex as a transgression, rather than the aduld-child sex itself? Should talk of molestation enrage homosexual activist, that elect pictures that pro-family groups paint over the entire homosexual community with too broad of a brush. Looking at this issue to me falls under stereotypes. I just don’t believe that a homosexual teacher is not fit for teaching young students.

We live in a society concerned both about human rights and about the will of the majority. What happens when these concerns clash? We cant always make the majority happy because its what they want, but rather what is the best for the American public.

decision time

Topic:hijack
It has been claimed that aircraft hijacking is a contagious phenomenon. The motivation to hijack aircrafts spreads from one individual to another, as a result of media coverage of hijacking incidents. Unlike hijacking of land vehicles or ships, skyjacking is usually not perpetrated in order to rob the cargo. Rather, most aircraft hijackings are committed to use the passengers as hostages in an effort to obtain transportation to a given location, to hold them for ransom. In this case, it is used for the release of comrades being held in prison.
Hijackings for hostages have usually followed a pattern of negotiations between the hijackers and the authorities, followed by some form of settlement, not always meeting the hijacker’s demands. The United States government will not give into terrorist holding official or private U.S. citizen’s hostage. It will not pay ransom, release prisoners, change its policies, or agree to other acts that might encourage additional terrorism. A new law gives authorities the power to order hijacked airliners shot down as a post September 11 measure that underscores growing terrorism concerns. The law allows the defense minister or air force chief to order the downing of civilian or military aircraft whose hijackers refuse to land.
What happens in the event that a passenger aircraft is hijacked? If the plane is already hijacked is there anything the crew can do or is it up to the f-16’s at this point? The top priority is always to bring the plane down safely along with everyone on board. If that can’t be done, then the priority becomes doing no harm to the people on the ground.
When it comes to making a decision that could directly affect if someone lives or dies is and always will be difficult one. In this case the hijackers want their comrade released from prison. The United States will not comply with the releasing of prisoners. If the hijackers still will not comply with landing the plane I would give the order to fire upon the plane. First I would try to disable the plane and hope for a miracle landing. If the plane still poses a threat while being brought down, I would then give the order to destroy the plane.
